Passengers, you’ve been warned.
A flight attendant named Kat Nesbitt shared a two-minute TikTok listing the five things that she wants people to stop doing on airplanes.
The first was yoga in the back galleys.
“Now I understand flights can be long, and sometimes you need to get up, stretch, walk around, get that blood flowing,” Nesbitt said, “but when you’re hosting an entire fitness class, party of one, in the back galley, it does get to be a lot.”
Nesbitt noted that airplanes are “so small already” and the cabin crew is trying to work in the back of the plane where “entire yoga sessions” occasionally take place between the passengers.
“Not only is it uncomfortable to use, but also it can be a safety risk especially when there’s hot meals and the hot trays coming out of the ovens,” she added.
The second disgusting airplane habit that Nesbitt hates is when passengers put their trash on the beverage carts while the attendants are doing service.
“There’s a phrase in the flight attendant community that you never mix the clean with the dirties,” Nesbitt explained. “So you putting your dirty, contaminated trash on a beverage cart that we’re trying to service hundreds of people on is really icky.”
“Not to mention that every time that we are through with a service we always come through with a trash service,” Nesbitt pointed out.
She added that passengers need to hold onto their garbage until the attendants come back around for trash service.
Number three is passengers being mean to the flight attendants when there’s a delay.
“I promise you, we’re usually more upset than you are,” she said, “because that delay is usually cutting into our layover or our ability to get home.”
Nesbitt also noted that attendants get paid when they’re in the air, and not when they’re grounded.
The fourth habit is passengers clipping their nails on the airplane.
Nesbitt said that “wild” habit, while some people may not believe it, “is way more common than you think it is.”
“And every single time it’s disgusting,” she said.
The fifth and final habit is passengers waiting until the plane is taxiing to the gate to get out of their seats and use the bathroom.
“First off, this is so dangerous. Not only to you, but also to the people around you,” Nesbitt explained. “Not to mention on every single flight, we make an announcement 20-25 minutes out that now is your last chance to get up and use the bathroom before we make our final descent into our destination and arrive at the gate.”
Nesbitt captioned her video, “5 things I wish passengers would stop doing on the airplane as a flight attendant.”
In the comments, people agreed with Nesbitt’s assessment about airplane etiquette.
One follower noted that passengers have become “too comfortable” on airplanes nowadays, and called out people that take their shoes off.
“Yes! Also super super common on the plane,” Nesbitt responded.
